European Version of Systems Thinking
By Fazrul Ismail | April 10, 2008
Now I have broader idea on Systems Thinking I am researching. Instead of knowing US and Canada version, my friend Luke suggested me with several names to understand European version of ST. Those names:
- Peter Checkland
- Michael Jackson
- Robert Flood
- John Mingers
Should there exist Asian, Middle East and African version of Systems Thinking? Things to ponder.
I will continue my literature review and finding those persons in the literature. I met several interesting findings, and I will share it here soon.
Bulb!
If US has its own ST, Canada has its own and European has its own, I would assume that ST is something big to be understood since it has different schools….Small stuff has no school. Am I right?

Hi
What was the main differences in ST between European and US? Any author in particular you recommend?

What I can see, Canadian version of ST is more on action learning – build your system while you attend the system. US version uses more ‘mechanical’ model compared to European version. European version expands more on social context – while US version focuses on business and management.
